Welcome  to the Louisiana Council for Exceptional Children (LACEC)

LACEC is an affiliate of the national Council For Exceptional Children.and provides a means for networking, professional development, and information-sharing for members.

Mission Statement

The Louisiana Council for Exceptional Children (LACEC) supports the efforts of CEC in advancing the education of children with exceptional learning needs.  In order to support programs for students with exceptional learning needs, LACEC focuses on providing outstanding professional development at a reasonable cost, mini-grants for teachers to conduct student-based projects, scholarships for college students, and opportunities for parents, educational professionals, and related service providers to learn about issues in special education.

Nominations Requested for 2012-13 LA CEC Executive Board Openings

 It is time to solicit nominations for the LA CEC Executive Board offices of Vice President (VP) and Treasurer.  Candidates for VP must have previous Executive Board experience.  Candidates for Treasurer must be LA CEC members.  Specifics on the requirements and expectations for each office can be accessed at the following link : (http://www.lacec.org/docs/LA-CEC%20Constitution%202009.pdf)
Both terms begin on May 1, 2012.  If you are interested in running for either VP or Treasurer, then please contact Nominations Chair (and Past President) Dr. Paul Mooney at pmooney@lsu.edu by February 10, 2012, so that your candidate status can be certified by the Executive Board prior to the election.
